IV&V for Colorado’s License and ID Card Modernization

The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides identification, driver, and vehicle services to the State’s more than 3 million licensed drivers. In order to provide their citizens with the highest level of services, the DMV developed a strategic approach for engaging Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) services to help assure the successful modernization of their enterprise license and ID card system.

DMV selected CSG to provide IV&V services and assist the State in conforming to industry best practices and IEEE standards throughout the program modernization effort. CSG reviewed and analyzed the third party vendor’s implementation plan, data management plan, risk management processes, security plans, interface designs, user acceptance testing, and deployment plans. Following the review and analysis of each area, CSG provided a summary report to DMV to guide them through industry best practices and the delivery of a successful implementation.

CSG also assessed system functionality, conducted an analysis of past project performance, assessed risks and issues, and provided recommendations for improvement to assure the management and technical aspects of projects meet the State’s objectives.
