Team CSG Spotlight: Nanette Simmons

Nanette is a child welfare expert with more than 20 years of experience in programs that support positive outcomes for children and families. For much of her career, Nanette worked directly in foster care services and policy development. She held various roles for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for over a decade where she began by supporting foster home location and placement and eventually oversaw all foster care, adoption, and guardianship services for the State. Prior to this, Nanette trained future foster parents, assisted in home preparation, and supported licensing. She also developed and taught a child abuse prevention course at a local community college and volunteers as a Review Board Member for the Nebraska Foster Care Review Office.

Since joining CSG, Nanette has applied this on-the-ground experience to support our CCWIS Modernization Project Management Office in New Mexico, developing juvenile justice and child welfare process flows, providing policy expertise, and supporting organizational change management activities.

Nanette says, “I enjoy working in Child Welfare because I truly believe what you do and say makes a difference in the lives of children and families, and they have made a difference in my life too. I admire the amazing foster and adoptive parents I have met throughout my career. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to share my child welfare experience and knowledge with other states today as a consultant at CSG.”

Thank you, Nanette, for the valuable work you have done to improve the well-being of children and families! Your advocacy for foster care, adoption, and child safety has touched countless lives.
